Astronomers have discovered that magnetic fields
clashing in the atmosphere of dwarf star TVLM513-46546, which is only one tenth
the mass of our Sun, are creating minute-long flares.
The flares were discovered by Edo Berger and colleagues at
Princeton University, who also found that the star, 35-light years distant, has
a hot spot covering half its surface.
